Isaac & Betsey (SWOPE) ARGABRITE, both Virginians, m. in Greenbriar Co. & came to these parts & settled on upper Middle Fork of Reedy 1844; with them or born soon after their arrival were their 3 sons & 3 daughters: George,Jacob H., Floyd, Amanda, Elvira & Rebecca.
George ARGABRITE, s/o Isaac & Betsey, m. Emily HARDMAN then widow of John Ingraham, with 3 children: Hugh, Alice & Lycurgus b. 26 DEC 1853. The children Of George & Emily ARGABRITE: Ella m. Thomas SNOW, Fannie m. E. Swazy BALL, Rebecca m. Demsey PARSONS, Mary J. m. John ROBERTS & 2 sons Romeo & William ARGABRITE.
Jacob H. ARGABRITE, s/o Isaac & Betsey, m. Alice INGRAHAM, d/o John & Emily (HARDMAN) INGRAHAM. Names of children of Jacob H. & Alice: Fleetwood b. 20 APR 1865; Homer Elliott ; Ida m. Oscar HUNT; Benjamin D.- a physcian in KY; Merit French- merchant & owns resturant in Spencer; Emma m. Homer THOMPSON- electric engineer of Spencer Water & Ice Co.
Floyd, s/o Isaac & Betsey died some years ago leaving 2 sons: William & Cola of Spencer.
The 3 daughters of Isaac & Betsey: Amanda m. Thomas SIMMONS; Elvira m. Henry GREATHOUSE & Rebecca m. John Erran GREATHOUSE.
Martin ARGABRITE, b. Greenbriar Co., came to these parts with his brother Isaac, in the 1840’s; he was a pensioner of the War of 1812 & he married.
Of the children of Martin ARGABRITE: Diana m. William BURDETTE; Kellis m. Jinnie HARDMAN- they have left one son Okey ARGABRITE who lives at the old home above Peniel 1926 with his wife a d/o Miles BOARD of Jackson Co.; & Wiley W. ARGABRITE m. Mary SHOWEN mentioned in the history of the City of Spencer in which he owned a tavern during the Civil War.
