Joseph Mayse.
Joseph Mayse, who participated in the Battle of Point Pleasant, was from Bath County, Virginia. In April, 1840, he died, being in his 89th year. He had served as a magistrate in his district for nearly fifty years. He was a man of such remarkable memory he was considered an “official record.” He was twice high sheriff of Bath County. His health was always perfect and he boasted he had never taken a dose of medicine.
