I am interested in the Reese family of the Mannington area. James Reese (1809-1885) was born in Waynesburg, Greene Co., PA, the son of William and Cassandra Rees. He moved to Mod’s Run, near Rachel, around 1845. He fathered 3 children: Ephraim (1836-1902), who moved to Kansas; Mary (1848-1903), who married a Talkington; and John M. (1834-1904) who is my gg grandfather. John had 12 children: James A. (1854-1905), Priscilla (1856- 1919), Ulises (1858-1859), Mary A. (1860-1882), John D.M. (1862- 1871), William G. (1863-1941), Festus Porter (1867-1947), Melissa (1870- 1956), Charles (1873-1940), Marshall (1873-1953), Fred (1879-1908), and Stella Erma (b. 1877). In addition to fathering these 12 kids, John M. was also a Union soldier. I know no details of his activities. The only document I have about his service states that he was a First Lieutenant in the Marion County 147th Militia, Capt. Joseph S. Morris’ Co (Cavalry). If you are related, know of the Reeses, Mod’s Run, or could possibly help me understand John M. Reese’s Civil War service, I’d be delighted to hear from you. Thank You.

What ever happened to Glenn Lowes papers after his death. He had in his possession a manuscript known as the “Bunner Revelations” which gives an account of the persons who went to Brown Co., OH from the Faimont/Barrackville area. In it was information about a Peter Straight and his children. This information was given to me second hand and efforts to obtain a transcription of it from Mr. Lowe was to no avail. I am very much interested in obtaining an abstract of this information as my great great grandfather may have been either his son or grandson. My great great grandfather was James Strai(gh)t b. 1798 and is said to have lived as a small boy near the Monongahela River, probably in what is now Marion Co., WV
